50TH ANNIVERSARY TIME CAPSULE

The Elk Grove Unified School District is seeking your ideas and input for content suggestions for the 50th Anniversary Time Capsule. The Time Capsule Ceremony will be held on the evening of June 9, 2009, prior to the regularly scheduled school board meeting.

Below is an example list of typical time capsule contents.  The district is seeking ideas about special and/or significant items specific to EGUSD, our school community and history.

Please note that the time capsule will be unearthed and opened in 50 years or in 2059. We cannot include any perishable items, batteries, chemicals, or anything that may contaminate or damage the contents of the time capsule. Most items will need to be treated or sealed in specific ways prior to being placed in the capsule. The capsule will be a 12" x 36" cylinder. Some of the already suggested items include:

• 2009 Currency and Coins
• Apartments for Rent Magazine
• Letters for Future Time Capsule Committee
• Letters from Life of a Child Born in 1959
• Maps of EGUSD Boundaries
• June 2009 Newspaper
• Recipes and Menus from School Cafeterias and Local Restaurants
• Salary Schedules
• Western Festival Brochure
• Photographs
• Time Capsule Manifest
• School Spirit Items
• Phone Book
• Music - Greatest Hits
• Local Ads - Car Dealership, Grocery Store, Target, etc.
