Resources available on-line

  • The California Department of Education - is the central clearinghouse for education grants funded by the state of California.

  • Education World - a general resource site for K-12 educators. In addition to a plethora of information on teaching and school administration, the Education World web site also contains a listing of various grant opportunities currently available to educators.

  • eSchool News Online - provides a rich resource center for K-12 educators. Through their grants and funding clearing house, you can find funding news and valuable information on open and ongoing grant competitions.

  • The Foundation Center - is the nations leading authority on philanthropy. Their web site contains an abundance of information on grant making and grant seeking, including information on proposal writing and access to many grantmaker web sites.

  • GrantsAlert.com - is an online grants information service exclusively for education organizations providing access to information on funding opportunities, grant writer resources, and grants advice and assistance.

  • The U.S. Department of Education - is the central clearinghouse for education grants funded by the federal government.

  • Center for Health and Health Care in Schools - provides news and information, including grant opportunity alerts for individuals interested in health and health care in schools.

  • Techlearning.com - is a resource provided by the Technology & Learning Network (TLN). TLN is a full-spectrum education technology resource for education technology leaders.   • Directory of California Large Foundations 2001 - Published by Research Associates, this guide provides giving summaries and contact information for California's largest foundations.
  • Education Grants Directory 2000 - Published by Quinlan Publishing Co., this guide provides a listing of federal, corporate, and private education funding sources.

  Newsletters

  • Education Grants Alert - a weekly newsletter listing open funding opportunities for schools and school districts.

  • Merriam-Webster's Online Language Center - provides access to Merriam-Webster's dictionary, thesaurus, and unabridged dictionary among many other language resources.

  • Roget's Thesaurus of English Words and Phrases
  • Flip Dictionary, by Barbara Ann Kipfer, PhD - this is a reverse dictionary. It is used when you have an idea, concept or definition but cannot remember or are uncertain of the precise word.
  • The Writer's Reference, by Diana Hacker - a writing reference with sections on effective sentences, word choice, grammatical sentences, punctuation, spelling and mechanics, and documentation.
  • A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses, and Dissertations, by Kate Turabian.

  • The Federal Grants Management Handbook - Published by the Thompson Publishing Group, Inc., this book provides a comprehensive source of applicable grant administration requirements to help organizations mange their federal grants. Topics covered range from how to obtain a federal grant to negotiating indirect costs rates to audits and appropriate reporting and record keeping process.
