correctional ed

EGACE has been providing educational opportunities to the inmates at
Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center
and the Sacramento County Main Jail since 1973.
Correctional Education provided instruction to 2435 male and female inmates
over the 2004/05 fiscal year.
RCCC Education offers three vocational training programs,
as well as academic enrichment and personal development.

This correctional education program is a collaborative effort of the Elk Grove Unified School District, the Sacramento Sheriff's Department and the Sacramento Superior Court.

All inmates are encouraged to attend classes on a voluntary basis and there are several higher skill options leading to GED preparation. Vocational classes provide short-term basic skills training for entry-level employment. Personal Development courses help build students' confidence in their ability to fulfill their potential. Trainees address substance abuse issues common among correctional students.
