The Elk Grove Adult and Community Education (EGACE) Distance Learning Program offers Video Checkout and Online classes to study English as a Second Language (ESL), GED test preparation and citizenship test preparation. We serve those who prefer to study at home or who want additional homework and tutoring. The Video Checkout Program has a wide library of video tapes, DVDs, audio cassettes, CDs and workbooks as well as a number of community sites to make getting videos and tutoring services more convenient.

ESL Video Checkout

Video topics include getting a job, preparing for the citizenship test, getting a driver license, talking to a doctor, learning about the court system and meeting with your child’s teacher.  At the Adult Education Center, video checkout hours are Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and Tuesday 5:30 – 7:00 pm. 

Community Video Checkout

 

To serve the needs of ESL and citizenship students who can’t go to the Adult Education Center, Video Checkout is also available at a number of local EGUSD elementary schools.  Call or email Adult Ed for more information or drop in at one of our community sites.

 
GED Video Checkout

Video/DVDs include such topics as writing effective sentences, reading nonfiction, understanding civics and government, passing the GED science test and solving math problems. Drop in for a video or for more information at any of these times: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm and Tuesday 5:30 – 7:00 pm.

GED Online

 

GED Test Preparation Online is now available through the EGACE Distance Learning Program. Students can study math, science, social studies, reading and writing on their computers at home Call (916) 686-7717 ext. 2134 or email Katherine Crawford to get more information or to put your name on the waiting list.

 
ESL Online

Beginning and Intermediate students study vocabulary and grammar, practice listening with streaming videos or CDs and practice writing with supplementary activities. Those with high-speed access to the Internet can register online by following the instructions. Contact Katherine Crawford or drop in for assistance
