Student preparation for continuing school or becoming a member of the work force is extremely important for high school students. At Calvine High School, students are encouraged to participate in career exploration by using the curriculum using the California Career Zone. Once students complete this course of study they earn credits in career exploration and receive additional recognition at graduation. Components of this course of study involves each student analyzing the job forecast from the U.S. Department of Labor, assessing their own self interests, performing occupation research, performing a reality check using current prices to live in their geographic area, and a plan for obtaining their goals. It is hoped that with these lessons, students will have a better idea what types of training, education and motivation are necessary to move forward after high school.
