We take great pride in our achievements, always think perseverance to overcome difficulties and obstacles, and use research based scholarship to develop and support academic behaviors needed at succeeding in all learning endeavors.

Success at Calvine High School

As with all productive endeavors in society today, punctuality and regular attendance are central to a thorough and ultimately successful academic experience at Calvine High School. Parents or legal guardians are central in assisting the teachers and staff encouraging good attendance. Please feel free to contact the staff at Calvine High School for questions regarding the attendance and participation of your student.

Credit Earning

Many students enroll at Calvine High School because they are credit deficient and need to earn credits at a greater rate to "catch up". It is our belief and expectation that all students must earn twenty credits a quarter to stay on track while attempting to graduate or preparing entrance to the work force. Calvine High School Students earn credit by completing assignments as defined by individual classroom teachers meeting both Elk Grove Unified School District and State of California Academic Standards. The rate of credit earning is one credit for every twelve hours of  either classroom or homework participation. Students must earn classroom credit prior to completing work outside of class. Students may only match class work with homework. It is our goal to improve work ethic and participation by offering several different assignments on a daily basis. Please note, students do not receive credit at Calvine High School simply for attending classes.

Assuming this student attended all classes, participated and completed all assignments, 15 hours of credit are earned. In a nine week quarter with no homework turned in, this student would earn 135 hours of credit (9 X 15 = 135). At 12 hours for one credit, this student earned 9 hours short of 12 credits (144 hours earned divided by 12 hours per one credit = 12 credits). As you can see each student must seek, complete and turn in homework regularly. Every teacher at Calvine High School has homework readily available for student assignments. Each student is responsible for finishing and returning homework for credit. Always feel free to call your students' teacher at 916.689.7502 or contact them by email if you have any questions regarding your student, their progress, classes or any other matter relating to their high school education.
