Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians:
Welcome to Carroll School! Because of your support and the hard work of our children, teachers, and staff, we have successfully completed our first year. Some of our accomplishment: a vibrant after school program, including enrichment and remedial support; the largest MESA program in the county, with nearly 100 students participating; several theatrical productions; the establishment of an active PTA; a top-rated attendance percentage; numerous academic awards; and, perhaps most important, the establishment of a positive learning community.
Our work is just beginning! This year we plan to implement a school-wide writing program, a student-run conflict resolution program, and expand our accelerated program to include more students. We will continue to count on your support for these and other programs and look forward to another successful year!
Sincerely,
Mr. Paul Hauder
Principal
VICE PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Carroll Comets Wonderful Families and Community Members:
I can’t begin to tell you what an awesome experience it has been joining the Carroll Comet Team! We are a new school, but our tremendously active PTA, enthusiastic staff, “Cream of the Crop” students, and very involved parents and families make it feel as though we’ve always been a part of this high achieving district.
In our second year we have brought in many positive additions. One new program provides many of our students an opportunity to take on a leadership role. Our intermediate students are able to be a part of our Conflict Mediation Team. These students have been trained in positive resolution of conflict and share their expertise with the rest of our students by working during recesses. Although only a few months into the program, we have already began to reap the rewards of this peer communication technique and are seeing fewer behavior issues on our playground.
As the Administrator over site coordination of Standardized Testing, I am happy to say we met our CELDT deadline. We are gearing up for our Mid-Year Progress Assessment of Standards exams coming in December and January. Fourth graders will be taking the Writing Assessment in March and April. Our California Standards Test begins in April and ends in May. And Kindergarten and first grade students will begin their standardized testing in May.
Continue to be an active and positive part of our phenomenal school. Your participation and involvement is appreciated and keeps us “Reaching for the Stars”!!
Sincerely,
Ms. Elizabeth D. Rueda
Vice Principal
