The
Elk Grove Unified School District selects two outstanding
teachers to represent EGUSD in the Sacramento County Teacher
of the Year selection process. Teachers chosen as Sacramento
County Teachers of the Year then go on to represent Sacramento
County in the California State Teachers of the Year selection.

Congratulations to EGUSD's 2010 Teachers of the Year:
Criss Brandes , a third grade teacher at Robert J. Fite Elementary School and JoEllen Shanks, a second grade teacher at Stone Lake Elementary School.
Both Ms. Brandes and Ms. Shanks represent the best in the teaching profession and are fabulous at what they do.
JoEllen Shanks named one of Sacramento County Teachers of the Year
At its Annual Celebration of Educators on September 2, 2009, EGUSD Teacher of the Year JoEllen Shanks was named as one of Sacramento County's Teachers of the Year. She was presented with the Sacramento County Board of Education's Elinor L. Hickey Award of Merit - the highest honor bestowed by the Board - and with a trophy from the Sacramento Scottish Rite Bodies of Freemasonry. Ms. Shanks is now eligible to advance to the statewide competition, where five teachers will be chosen as California Teachers of the Year. |
