Quick Reference
Here you can look something up in one of these on-line reference books.

Dictionary
Type your word in the box next to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, then click Look it up. Try your best to spell the word; if you are not correct, you will get a list of words the computer thinks you might mean. Select the one you think looks right.

Encyclopedia
Type in a word for the subject you want to look up; type a person's name last name first. Be sure you spell correctly. You can also click on the letter your subject begins with; you will then be offered a choice for the next few letters. The list you get to browse might be very long.

Atlas
This is a book of maps with information about geography and countries of the world.

Almanac
This is where to go for information that changes from year to year. This one also combines all the above sources, plus more, into one source especially designed for kids.

Biographical dictionary
Type the person's name last name comma first name. You will get just a few important facts. This is a good place to go if you hear or read someone's name and want to find out what they did and when they lived.

For Teachers - Lesson Ideas
Here are some sites that teachers might find helpful.

AwesomeLibrary

Educational Resources Information Center
known as ERIC, this is a national information system funded by the U. S. Department of Education's Institute of Education Services. It provides access to over a million abstracts of documents and journal articles on education literature and resources.

Educator's Reference Desk
formerly known as AskEric, this site comprises four sections providing over 3000 resources on educational issues; over 2000 unique lesson plans from teachers all over the U. S.; responses to questions on the practice, theory and research of education; as well as a link to the ERIC database.

Share With Families
Here are some sites that different members of the family might find useful and intriguing.

Internet 101
