Student Success Seminars (S3)
Student Success Seminars (S3) - The Student Success Seminars
intervention promotes effective collaboration between families
and educators through consistent participation in ongoing
after school workshops. During the monthly S3 sessions parents/guardians
and students will be introduced to a variety of effective
academic strategies. The structure of the Student Success
Seminars engages parents/guardians as effective tutors and
academic mentors for their children. Elliott Ranch Elementary
School and EGUSD staff facilitators 1) provide an overview
of various skills, 2) observe parents’ work with their
children and 3) offer additional support and coaching when
necessary. Later (at home) parents continue to tutor their
children using the skills and strategies that were practiced
during the workshops.

information about the Student Success Seminars intervention,

WATCH D.O.G.S.
The
WATCH D.O.G.S. program is the safe school initiative of the
NATIONAL CENTER FOR FATHERING and stands for Dads Of Great
Students. The goal of this wonderful program is to help every
school in America be positively influenced by the committed
involvement of fathers and father figures in lives of their
children and students. The WATCH D.O.G.S. program partners
with K-12 schools throughout the nation to invite fathers,
grandfathers, uncles, or other father figures to volunteer
at least one day all day at their child’s/student's
school during the school year. Individuals sign up at a kick-off
event such as a “Dads and Kids Pizza Night” or
“Donuts with Dad” or in the office at any time
throughout the school year.
The Elliott Ranch WATCH D.O.G.S. program will be overseen
by a team of “Top D.O.G.S.” – volunteers
who partner with the school administrators to coordinate scheduling
and identify opportunities for WATCH D.O.G.S. volunteers to
provide assistance at our school. WATCH D.O.G.S. volunteers
perform a variety of tasks during their volunteer day including
monitoring the school entrance, assisting with unloading and
loading of buses and cars, monitoring the lunch room, or helping
in the classroom with a teacher's guidance by working with
small groups of students on homework, flashcards, or spelling.
If you
have any questions or concerns regarding this program, please
contact our Vice Principal, Mrs. Best-Green.

GATE
GATE Curriculum
and learning strategies are addressed in the classroom by
the teacher. After school classes are frequently held in the
areas of math, science and computer science.
Student
Leadership Club
Student Leadership Club is open to 5th and 6th grade students
willing to learn about and use leadership skills in providing
positive and supportive atmosphere on campus. Students receive
training on the 40 Developmental Assets Model, make decisions
on supporting school wide events, use lunch time for advertising
and sharing their ideas, and encourage school participation
in charitable events.
COLLEGE
CONNECTION
"Academically
Sound, College Bound" is our motto at Elliott Ranch.
Each classroom has a University affiliation and students are
encouraged to learn more about their college and how what
they learn in school now can help them in their future pursuit
of higher education.
