Florin High School provides every student a challenging, relevant and engaging educational opportunity. We are a large, comprehensive high school that has found a way to ensure every student feels connected and has the opportunity to reach their full potential. We ensure our parent partners remain informed and involved. Through an array of class offerings, sports, clubs, activities and targeted specialized programming we are able to meet the needs of a highly diverse student population. We embrace our cultural diversity and have over twenty five primary languages identified by our students and families.
Several distinguishing characteristics of Florin High School include:
- A wide variety of academic course offerings ensuring all students can and will be college/career ready
- Diverse visual and performing arts opportunities including theater, photo, ceramics, band, choir, orchestra to name a few
- Over 40 clubs and activities for students to choose from
- An after school tutoring program with support provided by FHS teachers
- Numerous AP course offerings
- A comprehensive program for English Learner students and families
- Successful academic recovery and remediation support
- Exciting Adult Education opportunities are available in the evenings on the Florin Campus
- One of the most successful Agriculture Technology and FFA programs in the state (over 700 members)– recognized by the Governor in 2006
- The largest Mathletes program in the Sacramento area
- The Business, Education and Technology Academy (The first state partnership academy in the Elk Grove Unified School District )
- Naval Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) program
- Auto Technology and Culinary Arts ROP Programs
- Florin was the only high school in the United States (2006 and 2007) to be a recipient of a Hewlett Packard instructional technology grant (bringing state of the art technology to the school)
- Florin High School was one of only ten high schools in the state to receive a $250,000 grant from the California Academic Partnership Program for leadership development.
- In 2008-2009 Florin saw an increase in the Academic Performance Index of 20 points (689) and met all student sub-group growth targets – an exceptional accomplishment.
