About Wildlife Forever

Wildlife Forever is a non-profit conservation organization dedicated to preserving America's wildlife heritage. Since 1987, Wildlife Forever has contributed millions of dollars to conservation projects in all 50 states. Highlights include:

---Acquisition of 20,263 acres of land for public recreation
---Restoration of 67,858 acres of wetlands
---Research work with a variety of species including elk, grizzly bear, white-tailed deer, bighorn sheep, moose, goshawks, and coaster brook trout.
---Tens of thousands of trees planted in America's national forests and wildlife refuges
---Creation and placement of 12,429 fishery habitat structures on public waters

Through funding research, habitat restoration and enhancement, management, and land purchases, Wildlife Forever benefits many species of North American wildlife and fish. Wildlife Forever strongly believes conservation education will ultimately determine the future of our wildlife heritage. Its education mission is to teach future generations stewardship of America's wildlife heritage through the development of elementary and secondary school programs which foster knowledgeable, responsible, and thoughtful conservation.

In addition to posting Calin's winning entry on the California state page for a full year (his artwork may be viewed at http://www.statefishart.com/states/west/ca.htm#targetca), his artwork will also be on display at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnesota in June, 1999 and on AOL!

Kids and adults can learn more about their state fish at Wildlife Forever's site. They can also learn about the anatomy of a fish! Children grades 4 - 12 need to draw their state fish and write a one-page paper about it. In spring 1999, Wildlife Forever will have a lesson plan that covers art, English, math, science, and social studies that works with this contest.
