Library/Media Center

Textbooks are provided for all students at Joseph Kerr Middle School. Students are expected to take good care of books so future students may also use them. If a book is damaged beyond reasonable wear, charges will be assessed. If a book is lost, replacement value will be charged. An average textbook costs between $40.00 and $65.00.

Suggestions for Textbook Care

Inspect your textbooks as soon as they are issued to you.If you find damages not marked on the inside front cover, take your book(s) to a Library staff member within the first two weeks of issuance so that you will not be held responsible. Cover all your books with paper book covers (attach tape to covers, not the book). Spray your backpack with a waterproofing product. Remove books at home from a wet backpack on rainy days and allow them to naturally air dry. Carry lunch drinks in a plastic sealable bag. Remove and lay backpacks on the floor/ground carefully. Do not throw, drop, or kick backpacks. Much of the damage noted in the table below has occurred when backpacks have been dropped (broken corners and leaking drinks).
