IMPORTANT INFORMATION
2009-2010 SCHOOL YEAR

Dear Families,
Happy Summer! We hope this letter finds you and your family well this summer.
This letter is being written to inform you of several changes for the upcoming school year. As you may be aware, Florence Markofer Elementary School will be on a traditional calendar next school year. Please find a copy of the new calendar on the Elk Grove Unified School District’s website: http://www.egusd.net/calendars/index.cfm. The new traditional calendar is represented by the purple color.
Another change this school year will be our master bell schedule. Please find attached our new bell schedule for the upcoming school year. The changes include:
Kindergarten AM 8:00 AM – 11:20 AM
Kindergarten PM 11:00 PM – 2:20 PM
Grades 1 – 6:
Start Time: 8:05 AM
End Time: 2:10 PM
We wanted to provide you these times for next school year so that you may adjust your pick up and drop off times. We will maintain supervision beginning at 7:50 AM. Please do not drop students before this time in the morning. Please ensure that students are picked up or walk home by 2:15 PM.
Finally, we will be forming some combination classes for next school year. Combination classes are formed with two grade levels in one classroom. These classes are regularly formed at schools as our student enrollment at each grade level is not always an exact multiple of 20 or 26. Thus, your student may be enrolled in a class which maintains two grade levels in the coming school years. We thank you in advance for your understanding. We will guarantee a student will not be placed in a combination class for two years consecutively.
Moreover, in making these important classroom placement decisions, we want to consider all possible relevant information so that placements will be made that will allow for the greatest possible success for each child. Please understand that we cannot honor individual teacher requests. Therefore, I urge you not to submit requests. It would not be fair for me to honor some requests and not others, and it would be virtually impossible to honor all.

We will post class lists for the 2009-2010 school year outside the school office on June 26, at 4:30 PM.
Also, please remember that our first day of next school year will be Monday, August 17, 2009 at 8:05 AM.
