No Excuses – Go to School Rhyme Contest Winners

Elk Grove Unified School District officials are pleased to announce the winners of the No Excuses – Go to School Rhyme Contest.  The contest asked students throughout the district to create a fun rhyme about excuses kids would use for not attending school.

The Rhyme Contest selected 12 winning rhymes that will be featured in the upcoming Attendance Campaign Poster Contest.  The winning rhymes will be illustrated by district students for the Poster Contest.

The Superintendent’s Cabinet selected the top winners.

Rhyme contest winners will be used to promote the attendance campaign in district communications and events.

The following 12 students were selected as winners of the No Excuses – Go to School Rhyme Contest:

  • Franchesca Bongcaron – Elk Grove Elementary

“Lazy Day?  Come anyway!

  • Hailee Giang – Elliott Ranch Elementary

“Climbing the ladder of success – attendance is what we must do best!”

  • Sebastian Nevarez – Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary

“If you want to be a smarty, don’t be tardy.”

  • Danielle Durham – John Ehrhardt Elementary

“Rain or shine, we want you here on time!”

  • Kolin Ayubi – John Ehrhardt Elementary

“Skipping school?  That isn’t cool!”

  • Melodie Ngo – Barbara Comstock Morse Elementary

“Put down the remote!  Go to school to promote!”

  • Mrs. Baker’s 2nd Grade Class – Ellen Feickert Elementary

“Don’t be late, school’s just great!”

  • Alex Dam – Samuel Kennedy Elementary

“Pretending to be sick?  Get here quick!”

  • Kristal Tapia – Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School

“If you want to pass, go to class.”

  • Mohamad Habbas – Calvine High School

“If you’re present, then say ‘here.”  It can help with your career.”

  • Mr. Nurre’s 1st Grade Class – David Reese Elementary School

“Don’t whine, just get here on time!”

  • Julian Navarrette – Elk Grove Elementary

“School is fun, school is great, don’t miss out and don’t be late!”
