What's Happening - Calendar of Events – January 5-10

Here is what’s going on in Elk Grove Unified School District January 5-10:

January 5:  Students and staff at all Elk Grove Unified School District schools and offices will return from Winter Break.

January 7:  First grade students on A and B tracks at Stone Lake Elementary School will attend a weather assembly from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.  KCRA 3/KQCA 58 weatherman Dirk Verdoorn will be the featured guest speaker.

January 7:  Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School will host the next session of their Parent University from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  This month’s topic is “Strengthening Communication.”

January 8:  John Reith Elementary School will welcome six Japanese students and their chaperones from the Speak Up English language school to their campus for a short visit from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.  The students will visit classrooms, experience recess and lunch and take a tour of the Reith campus to view the computer lab and library. 

January 8:  Sheldon High School will offer a Financial Aid Information Night in the cafeteria from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.  Parents and students are invited to attend the event to get all of their financial aid questions answered.

January 9:  Joseph Kerr Middle School will hold their annual Talent Show at 3:30 p.m.  The winner of the Kerr Talent Show may have the option to compete in the district-wide talent show to be held in April.  The cost of admission for the show is $.50 for students and $2 for adults.

January 9:  Parents of 8th grade middle school students are invited to an Academy Informational meeting at Sheldon High School from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria.  Parents can learn more about Sheldon’s four academies – Equitas (government and public service), Engineering and Building Trades (engineering/engineering technology), ARTSwork (media careers, drama, music, dance, etc.) and Biotech (science careers).

January 10:  The Football Boosters at Sheldon High School will host their annual Crab Feed at the SES Hall from 5:30 p.m. to 12 p.m.  The cost is $40 per person and includes dinner and live entertainment.

January 10:  The ASB at Pleasant Grove High School will host their annual Crab Feed at the Dante Club (2330 Fair Oaks Blvd., Sacramento) from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m.  The crab feed will raise money to make improvements to various parts of the Pleasant Grove campus.  The cost is $45 per person and includes a menu of Dungeness crab, Caesar salad, vegetables, rigatoni with meat sauce, rolls and ice cream.
