What's Happening - Calendar of Events – September 21-26

Here is what’s going on in the Elk Grove Unified School District during the week of September 21-26:

September 23:  Parents at James Rutter Middle School are invited to attend a Parent University session from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  This month’s topic is “What is Middle School?” – getting to know James Rutter Middle School.  Parents will visit the computer lab, learn about 7th & 8th grade curriculum and School Loop and obtain information about upcoming events.

September 24:  Irene B. West Elementary School will host the Office Depot Backpack Celebration at 9:30 a.m.  Office Depot will donate 900 backpacks to Elk Grove Unified to be distributed amongst all elementary schools.  Representatives from Stockton, Lodi, Lincoln, Tracy, Sacramento City, Natomas and Woodland Joint unified school districts will also be in attendance to pick up backpack donations for their districts.

September 24:  Parents of students at Katherine L. Albiani Middle School are invited to spend a day on campus with their child on Parent Visitation Day.  Parents will attend classes with their child and participate in lunchtime activities facilitated by the Student Leadership Team.

September 24:  Laguna Creek High School will hold a College Information Night in their multipurpose room from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Interested students and parents are invited to attend to hear admissions representatives from University of California system, California State University system, Cosumnes River College, as well as a private college admissions liaison. 

September 25:  Franklin High School’s Theater Company will present “Vaudeville ’09: A Cabaret Revival” on September 26.  “Cabaret 09: A Vaudeville Revival” is a variety show that will provide comedy acts, musical numbers, scenes from plays and dance.  Tickets are $17 for general admission and $12 for Franklin students with an ASB sticker, adults 55 years or older and children 12 and under.  Doors open at 5:45 p.m., followed by dinner at 6 p.m.  The show begins at 7 p.m.

September 26:  Franklin High School will hold an E-waste Recycling event in their parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Items accepted include monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook PCs, VCRs, stereo equipment, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, ZIP drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, scanners and fax machines.
