What's Happening - Calendar of Events – September 28 – October 3

Here is what’s going on in the Elk Grove Unified School District during the week of September 28 – October 3:

September 29:  Leadership students at Elk Grove High School will host a leadership conference from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for middle school students from Harriet Eddy, Edward Harris, Jr., Samuel Jackman, Toby Johnson, Joseph Kerr, Elizabeth Pinkerton and James Rutter middle schools.  During the conference, students will attend workshops covering facilitative leadership, publicity, balloons and how to use them at your events, and the art of delegation.  Richard Parkhouse, a representative from Jostens, will serve as the keynote speaker for the conference. 

October 2:  Florence Markofer Elementary School will hold their Donuts for Dads/Muffins for Moms event for parents of all first grade students from 8:05 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.  During the event, moms and dads are invited to have breakfast and spend the morning reading to their children.

October 2:  Grandparents of students at C.W. Dillard Elementary School are invited to have lunch with their grandchildren on campus at a special luncheon held in honor of Grandparents’ Day at 12 p.m.

October 3:  Pleasant Grove High School will hold an e-waste collection day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Items accepted at the collection days include: monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook PCs, VCRs, stereo equipment, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, ZIP drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, laser and multi-functional peripherals, scanners and fax machines.  Items that will not be accepted include: household batteries, appliances, tires, furniture, mattresses, lumber, chemicals, commercial waste, dirt, rocks, debris or microwaves.
