Elk Grove Unified School District elementary students ready to “Hoop It Up” with KidTribe September 29, 2009 Throughout the month of October, the Elk Grove Unified School District’s Food and Nutrition Services Department will host a series of nutrition and physical activity 35-minute Hula Hoop assemblies with KidTribe. During the assembly, KidTribe will engage students in Taste Bud’s nutrition reinforcement raps and Stretch-A-Rama’s tools for a flexible body to engage students in making healthy food and physical activity choices. KidTribe has developed exercise routines to remind students to eat more fruits and vegetables and to be physically active every day. “We know that in order to help children become healthy adolescents and adults, we must teach them healthy habits while they are young,” said Anne Gaffney, nutrition specialist for the district. “This helps empower them to make positive, long-lasting changes.
