EGACE offers SAT/ACT prep class February 25, 2010 Elk Grove Adult and Community Education is offering two SAT/ACT Preparation classes for interested students. The classes are a combination of online study and in-class study. Students will receive a total of 41 hours of instruction: 24 hours with an online instructor, 12 class hours with a certificated EGUSD teacher and seven online “office hours” with an EGUSD teacher. Classes meet on Saturdays from March 20 through May 8, with the exception of April 3. The English language arts class meets from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The math class meets from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The first online lessons will be released on March 17. The cost for each class is $279. The English language arts class will cover the general structure of the SAT and ACT; passage-based reading questions; reading comprehension passages, practice and item analysis; vocabulary; grammar overview; identifying grammar errors in paragraphs (ACT) and sentences (SAT); essay writing; reading scientific charts and graphs (ACT); and reviewing tips and strategies for test day. The math class will cover the general makeup of the SAT and ACT; arithmetic review (multiplication, division, exponents, fractions); Algebra and Algebra II review (variables, factoring, functions); geometry review; trigonometry review (ACT); statistics and probability; test-taking strategies, practice testing and test analysis for both the SAT and ACT; SAT student-produced response questions and review and preparation for test day.
