Sheldon High School students “fly high” in statewide competition

April 1, 2011

Eight Sheldon High School students have won awards in the 21st Annual California Junior Duck Stamp Program. The students’ work was selected for recognition from a field of over 3,000 entries from across the state.

The California Junior Duck Stamp Program is a part of a nationwide event that teaches the importance of conserving wetlands and migratory birds. The program pairs science, the arts, and other core subjects to creatively teach greater awareness of our natural resources. Students were invited to participate in an art competition as a part of the program. The competition was open to students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade.

Erica Digap, an 11th grade student at Sheldon, took first place and Best of Show honors. Her winning entry will represent California in the national competition in Washington, D.C.
