What's Happening - Calendar of Events – March 5-10
Here is what’s going on in the Elk Grove Unified School District during March 5-10: March 6 and 8: Drama students at Cosumnes Oaks High School and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School will present the Disney’s Children’s Theater version of Alice in Wonderland, Jr. for elementary school students at 9 a.m. on both days in the Cosumnes Oaks High School Performing Arts Center. Audiences will join Alice on her madcap adventures in Wonderland as she chases the White Rabbit, races the Dodo Bird, gets tied up with the Tweedles, raps with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar and beats the Queen of Hearts at her own game. Tickets are $5 each for both students and chaperones. March 7: Parents of students attending Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School are invited to attend the next session of Parent University from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the multipurpose room. This month’s topic is “Math & Science Family Night.” March 8: Students at Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School will have a chance to attend a Career Fair from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Students will connect what they have learned in school, set goals and gain tips about how to be successful in the workforce. Over 30 parents and community members have volunteered to be guest speakers for this event. March 9: Harriet Eddy Middle School will hold their annual Science Night from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the multipurpose room. Parents and community members are invited to come spend an evening viewing student science fair projects and participating in student-run activities covering such topics as astrobiology, physics and astronomy. March 10: Bands from seven Elk Grove Unified School District middle schools will participate in the Elk Grove Middle School Band Festival from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Harriet Eddy Middle School. Each band from Katherine L. Albiani, Harriet Eddy, Edward Harris, Jr., Toby Johnson, Joseph Kerr, Elizabeth Pinkerton and T.R. Smedberg middle schools will participate in a clinic with guest adjudicator Grant Parker – director of bands at Cosumnes River College – after they perform. March 10: The Footworks Dance Company at Valley High School will present their Spring Recital at 7 p.m. in the Recital Hall at Cosumnes River College. The recital theme is “DanceQuerade.” The performance will feature Valley High School Footworks Dance Company students, as well as guest performers Grooveology, Halau Keikiali’I, Superheros in Training and Footworks Dance Company alumni. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
