August 17, 2012 On Thursday, August 16, 2012, Bobbie Singh–Allen was sworn in as the Elk Grove Unified School District’s newest board member, representing Trustee Area 4. Ms. Singh-Allen was appointed as a board member following an interview process which included four candidates. Current board members interviewed candidates during an open session board meeting. Ms. Singh-Allen fills the seat left vacant following Pollyanna Cooper-LeVangie’s resignation as a board member on July 1, 2012. Ms. Singh-Allen is an active Elk Grove community member, having served on the board of directors to the Elk Grove Food Bank and the Elk Grove Teen Center. She is also a member of the Laguna Sunrise Rotary and founding member of Elk Grove First. In 2011, following the tragic shootings of two elderly Sikh gentlemen in Elk Grove, she helped organize the first ever American Sikh Day at the State Capitol. She currently serves as the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for The California Lodging Industry Association. Her prior work includes serving as the Vice President of Governmental Relations for the California Hotel & Lodging Association, as a Public Affairs Consultant for L&B Associates, as the Director of Governmental Relations for the Nehemiah Corporation of America and as a California Legislative Advocate for Population Connection, Inc. At age four, Ms. Singh-Allen immigrated to the United States from India. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the California State University, Sacramento, and a Juris Doctor from Lincoln Law School. She is an active volunteer at Elliott Ranch Elementary and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle schools where her two children attend school. She is married to Jake Allen.
