ACCELERATED READER:

Accelerated Reader is an award-winning computer program that creates excitement about reading in students and gives teachers objective information on how their students are progressing in their reading. Prairie has installed Accelerated Reader software on student and teacher computers in every classroom, as well as the computer lab and the library. This program encourages reading by awarding points to students who have passed Accelerated Reader Quizzes on books they have read. Books are assigned different reading levels and points according to their difficulties, so students can read material that is at their level. Students and classes compete with each other for the top ranks in their grade levels.

AWARDS:

Students achieving certain levels of points will earn the following awards:

Stickers at 3 points, Buttons at 5 points,

Prairie Elementary Lanyard at 10 points, and

Medallions/ dog tags at 25, 50, 75, 150, 250, and 500 points.
