Time of Remembrance Reflection Paper

Task: Write a 1-2 page reflection paper on the internment of Japanese and Japanese Americans in the United States during World War II, based on your knowledge of the subject and what you learned from the personal interviews of people who were interned in the camps. Your paper should not only address the experiences of the Japanese, but should also identify the constitutional issues involved in the internment of American citizens. Also your paper should identify the social, economic and political trends that allowed for Japanese internment to occur. Finally your paper should address how this event affected US history – you may also want to make comparisons between the treatment and experience of the Japanese after the attack on Pearl Harbor and the treatment and experience of Americans of Arab descent after 9-11. Extra Credit Activities – Create a timeline of 8-10 events relating to the internment of the Japanese beginning with Pearl Harbor.
