Health Services provides a variety of health-related programs to district students. Annually, EGUSD school nurses screen children for vision and hearing problems. Health Services also provides health counseling for students, staff, and parents, including communicable disease control.

 

EGUSD School Nurses are baccalaureate prepared RNs with additional training and education who choose to practice nursing and promote health in the school setting.  School nurses collaborate with families, physicians, counselors, psychologists, and other members of the school team to advocate for children and enrich their learning.  School nurses promote health and safety at school through various activities, including conducting health screenings and assessments, managing acute and chronic health conditions, performing health education and training, and monitoring communicable diseases and immunization programs in collaboration with Sacramento County Public Health Department.  The credentialed school nurse is often the only health professional a child may encounter for health needs.

• Sutter Health – Sutter Teens Program - Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento’s Sutter Teen Programs reach out to Sacramento County teens who are pregnant or parenting. Teens work with a case manager who provides guidance and resources when they are pregnant or parenting.

• Nurse Family Partnership – The Nurse-Family Partnership is a free program that connects nurses with moms expecting their first baby.

• WellSpace Health – WellSpace Health’s Women’s Health Department provides obstetric and gynecological healthcare in a caring and competent way for women of all ages in our community.
