ACTUARIAL
FOUNDATION ADVANCING STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT GRANTS
K-12 schools in the United States
and Canada are eligible to apply for funds to
support math mentoring programs that involve actuaries
as volunteers. Advancing Student Achievement
is a program that brings together actuaries and
educators in local classroom environments with
the belief that interaction with real-world mentors
will boost students interest and achievement in
math. The Actuarial Foundation provides a local
network of actuaries ready to participate, as
well as suggestions on how to integrate math concepts
from the workplace into the classroom. Groups
applying for grants will be given wide latitude
in designing programs that enhance learning and
create a “love of math” in each student.

The Educator Grant program is designed to promote
aerospace education activities in classrooms from

AGRICULTURE EDUCATION CHALLENGE (USDA)
The Agriculture Department invites applications to promote and strengthen secondary education and two-year post secondary education in agriscience and agribusiness. Proposals must focus on secondary schools and at least one of the following education need areas: enhancing agriculture education through curriculum improvements; increasing faculty teaching competencies; expanding career opportunities, integrating agricultural education into the curriculum; facilitating interaction with other academic institutions; and expanding student and workforce diversity.

AMERICAN
HONDA FOUNDATION
The American Honda Foundation makes grants to
support youth and scientific education, scholarship
and fellowship programs, and scientific and educational
organizations. The foundation makes seed, operating,
project/program, general/continuing support, challenge,
matching, conditional multi-year, and proactive
grants in addition to scholarships and fellowships.
Projects must have a broad and/or national focus.
The foundation does not fund small, local, or
regional projects.
The foundation gives preference to projects that
promote company philosophy. Applications should
describe organizations and/or projects that are
imaginative, creative, youthful, scientific, humanistic,
innovative, and forward-thinking. Programs should
address youth and scientific education. In addition,
programs should be innovative and creative, dedicated
to improving the human condition, and broad in
scope and impact. Proposals should suggest improvements
for the future and offer tangible solutions for
current problems plaguing society.

AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS AND ASTRONAUTICS CLASSROOM GRANTS
The AIAA Foundation is a non-profit educational organization formed to devote more attention and more resources to the education of current and future aerospace professionals.
The AIAA is interested in sponsoring classroom activities that make learning science fun. Funding through the AIAA Classroom Grants program supports development and implementation of high-quality science, mathematics, and technology curriculum. Grant funding can be used for classroom demonstration kits, classroom science supplies, or other materials to enhance the teaching and learning of science, mathematics, and technology.
Eligibility is limited to AIAA members (application for AIAA Educator Associate members is free).

DREYER'S FOUNDATION
Grants will be given to K-12 public education and programs that help students to succeed in core academic subjects and graduate to post secondary education and/or vocational training. Priority will be given to programs, either in-school or after school, which are provided in sequential, consistent basis to students throughout the year. Priority is given to programs that (1) affect a significant number of youngsters; (2) that teach young people how to learn; and (3) are unique and creative.
Large grant proposals (over $3,000) are reviewed on an annual basis and must be submitted prior to January 15th of each year. An organization may submit only one proposal annually.
Small grant proposals (under $3,000) are considered every month. To be considered, the application must arrive by the 7th day of the month, by 5:00 p.m.

ENGINEERING INFORMATION FOUNDATION
The Engineering Information Foundation solicits proposals for its Women in Engineering Program, which provides funding for developmental projects, instructional projects and training programs that encourage young women to choose a career in engineering.
Programs should focus on encouraging middle school girls to pursue degrees in engineering, and improving retention rates for undergraduate women in engineering. The National Weather Association Education Committee

Samsung Electronics recently announced that it's seeking applications for its 2007 Hope for Education essay contest. Hope is an educational and philanthropic program designated to minimize the technology gap in the educational system by providing winners with Samsung technology and Microsoft software. Those who enter the contest must submit a 100-word essay about their school, answering the question, "What is the single most significant benefit that technology can provide the classroom?"
