TEXTBOOKS
Textbooks are loaned to students. Please take care of them and keep them coverd. If textbooks are damaged, the student is responsible for payment to replace the book. These books can cost up to $75 in some cases. Below, you can download the replacement costs of the books.

ACCELERATED READER
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading program where students read books, and then take a computerized test on the book. The tests assess a students ability to read independently and comprehend the text. Many teachers at Morse Elementary participate in this program. Students in those classes are given a reading placement test at the beginning of the school year to determine their reading level. Based on the results of their testing, over time, they will move up in levels. If a student fiinishes their book before their next library day, they may come to the library during the last 15 minutes of the school day to check out a new book. Students may also read books from the public library. If your child chooses to get a book from the public library, please download our list of available tests, to make sure that the book you get is part of our AR program.

California Department of Education - State Testing (CST/STAR)
This link is to the practice tests for the annual state testing. Students should have a blank sheet of paper, pencil and eraser to practice for the test. Students should do a few problems each day, and check their answers (at the end of the test). If an answer is incorrect, please have them try to figure out why, if they cannot figure out where they make their mistake, then you or their teacher can assist them. They should be sure to show any work for Math or other problems.
