"In the Blink of an Eye"

In January 2007, Elk Grove Police Department made presentations on the dangers and punishments for illegal street racing in the California. Students watched the video,"In the Blink of an Eye", discussed street racing, and then viewed a car badly damaged in an accident involving excessive speed and a teen driver.

Students listen to a presentation by EGPD
Students support the effort to curb illegal street racing and save lives.  They also understand the message that any type of exhibition of speed is expensive and potentially fatal.
The EGPD presentation also talks about the “spectator” ordinance whereby being within 200 feet of a street race can bring a $1,000 fine and 6-months in the County jail. This fully supports Calvine High School student goals of 'Being Well, Staying Well'.
Students pay close attention to detailed information on the dangers of street racing.
