April 13, 2020

Dear Elk Grove Unified Students, Parents and Families,

EGUSD Distance Learning Countdown: 3 days for middle and high school and 7 days for elementary school. Last week we talked about parent tips 1 and 2 for preparing for distance learning and today, we’ll focus on parent tip 3: communicating with your student’s teacher. If you missed the first two tips, go back to our April 9th letter or view our 5 Tips short video.

Students can email their teacher using the EGUSD StudentVue (Synergy) system as well as through Google Classroom in the form of posts. Students can access StudentVue and their Google Classroom through the EGUSD Classlink portal. All students should use their school assigned email to email a teacher or school staff member and not their personal email.

Parents can email a teacher or school staff member using EGUSD ParentVue (Synergy). If a ParentVue account needs to be activated, please contact the school secretary. Parents may also visit their school’s website and refer to the staff directory for email addresses. If a staff email address is not listed, please contact the school secretary.

Here’s are a few of the communication pieces parents and students should expect this week from their school:

  • Welcome back letter from their school’s principal to parents and students.
  • Welcome back letter from students’ teachers to parents and students.
  • For TK/K parents, information about picking up a distance learning packet. (Parents also have the option of downloading and printing the TK/K Distance Learning packets online.)

Next week, families and students may visit any of the three high school locations where we will be offering Chromebook check-out make-up days on Tuesday, April 14th from 9:00 a.m. to 12: 00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 15th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.:

  • Monterey Trail High School (MTHS) – In front of the Admin Building
  • Laguna Creek High School (LCHS) – Along edge of the Student Parking Lot
  • Sheldon High School (SHS) – Using the first row of the Student Parking Lot

In following the updated Sacramento County Public Health Order, effective April 9, 2020, all District sites, including the Robert L. Trigg Education Center, will be closed to the public until May 1, 2020. Enrollment and other educational and business services will continue. To contact a department by email or phone, please visit EGUSD’s Division and Department’s web page. Departments will be monitoring emails and voicemails. We will respond to your request within a reasonable amount of time and we will be mindful of situations requiring deadlines.
