April 20, 2020
Dear Elk Grove Unified Students, Parents and Families,
It’s Monday and distance learning for our elementary school students has started. Initial feedback at all levels from preschool through twelfth grade has been positive. Be on the lookout for some parent, student, staff and administrator surveys where we will be asking for feedback on how the launch and implementation of EGUSD Distance Learning is going. Secondary schools reported that last week over 90 percent of all secondary students checked-in sites are continuing to reach out to students who have yet to check-in. Also, last week 105,802 meals were served.
By noon today, over 1,000 video-conference sessions took place and with elementary schools starting today, we have a fun video to share with you about “How to prepare for Zoom,” by Elk Grove Unified teacher Ms. Kissinger. For parents and students experiencing challenges with logging into the ClassLink portal or Google Classroom to check-in, please visit our Family and Community Resource page and review the Frequently Asked Questions.
We want to congratulate this year’s 2020 SEVA award winners from Sunrise Elementary School, Florence Markofer Elementary School, Toby Johnson Middle School and Franklin High School. You can see their exceptional work by visiting the SECC SEVA Award Site.
Lastly, safety of our students and staff remains a top priority and Elk Grove Unified set up a Family and Student Resource Line at (916) 686-7568 for student support questions regarding student health services, social and emotional support, academic counseling, attendance and supports for homeless youth and foster youth during the COVID -19 school closures. If you have a medical or psychiatric emergency, please call 9-1-1.
Thank you. Please stay safe, stay healthy and stay home as much as you can. Remember to subscribe to the Elk Grove Unified School District’s YouTube Channel.
Note: Please note that the scheduled April 21st EGUSD School Board Meeting will be held via Zoom. Please follow this link if you are interested in attending. The meeting will be recorded and posted on the District’s YouTube Channel.
