August 21, 2020
Today, we have just a few reminders for families. First and foremost, our Year Round A-Track students start full distance learning on Monday, August 24th, and we welcome them back to school. Please note: If families have students who still need a Chromebook, please contact your student’s school. If you need Internet Connectivity at home, please click here for guides to home Internet options and there is also a form if you are not able to obtain home internet.
Second, there is a national school bus driver shortage and the need impacts us here locally at Elk Grove Unified. The school district is looking to train and hire school bus drivers in time to be prepared to support either a partial or full return of students to schools. For more information, please visit our Transportation Department’s website and if this great opportunity to help many of our students return safely back to school interests you, please submit an application.
Third, our EGUSD Community Connection newsletter went out this week listing seminars, resources and other important information. Here are some highlights:
- Family Wellness Virtual Series
- Cosumnes CSD’s Distance Learning Support & Recreation
- Immunization Clinics
In fact, the EGUSD Department Of Student Support And Health Services is continuing to offer immunization clinics by appointment only. Eligibility requirements for EGUSD students include:
- Students who have no health insurance or insurance that does not cover vaccines
- Are Medi-Cal eligible
- Or are Native American or Alaskan Native
There is one more August clinic being held at James Rutter Middle School on Tuesday, August 25th from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. In September, clinics will take place at Maeola Beitzel Elementary school the afternoons of September 9th and 23rd from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on September 16th and 30th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call (916) 686-7568.
Please check your email inbox for other District updates and be sure to visit our website at www.egusd.net.
