Hello Elk Grove Unified Students, Parents and Staff,

Vaccinations

As you may have heard, the Pfizer vaccine was recently approved for use with adolescents aged 12 years and older. Appointments and opportunities to receive the Pfizer vaccine are becoming widely available with many local providers. Whether you want to get vaccinated because of vulnerable family members, to participate in school activities with ease of mind, or because you just feel it’s the right thing to do, we encourage all students, staff and community members who are eligible to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Getting fully vaccinated as soon as possible can help people avoid quarantining if exposed to COVID-19 unless they become symptomatic and for our graduates, it’s one less thing to worry about before heading off to college.

Click here for COVID-19 vaccination information through MyTurn. Please share this information with other friends and family members.

Note: Until California’s mask mandate is lifted, in EGUSD schools, we will continue to follow our COVID-19 safety protocols of wearing face masks, social distancing and hand washing.

We are pleased to announce that COVID-19 vaccination clinics are accepting appointments for those 12-15 years of age, through a partnership between the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) and Safeway. We are particularly interested in reaching out to youth for these vaccination clinics that are offering the Pfizer vaccine. Please note, for those ages 12-15, a parent, guardian, or non-custodial adult must be present and witness the vaccination and the Consent and Release form must be signed by the parent/guardian. While a parent/guardian is not required to accompany 16-17 year-old youth, they must bring a signed consent form. It is urgent that you book your appointment as soon as possible to ensure we are scheduled to capacity. Our vaccination clinics are open to the community and scheduled as follows for first dose appointments and appointments are required.

Please Do NOT attend the clinic if you are feeling unwell or are experiencing COVID symptoms. If possible, wear a short sleeve shirt or clothing that will provide easy access for the vaccination. When you arrive at the SCOE Conference Center, participants should avoid parking in spots with the designation of  “CJA” or “ZCS.”

While you are not required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, it is our hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity. If you have any concerns or questions about the vaccine, please contact your healthcare provider. We want you to feel confident in your decision to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Please note, there is no cost to you for the vaccine.

In partnership with Safeway, we plan to schedule additional vaccination clinics in the coming weeks. If you have any questions, please contact Diane Lampe at dlampe@scoe.net or Jeaneen Avery at javery@scoe.net or (916) 228-2751.
