May 22, 2020
Dear Elk Grove Unified Students, Parents and Families,
Only one more week remains for the 2019-2020 school year and on Monday, District schools and offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day whereby we honor military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
In preparation for the end of the year, please make sure you have checked with your school about textbook returns. Only those who are graduating or disenrolling from the District need to return their checked-out Chromebook. Students who will be using their Chromebook for the next school year may continue using them throughout the summer to work on online enrichment opportunities and WiFi at each school will continue to be active.
With regard to Phase I of distance learning, the attached Distance Learning Statistics illustrate parent and student responses to EGUSD’s Distance Learning Survey that was administered in early May and focused on access and communication.
As a reminder, EGUSD Virtual Graduations will be held between June 2nd and June 5th. The link of how to access presentations will be provided on each high school’s website and on the District’s website at least a day prior. Also, the following EGUSD Virtual Graduation link will take you to the District’s press release, which shows the schedule for each high school’s virtual graduation time and date.
Now that we have entered Phase II of our COVID-19 response and are preparing for the beginning of the 2020-21 school year, please plan to join us at the June 9th EGUSD Board Meeting on Zoom where the Phase II team will present on how the District will push the start button on 2020-21 and what student learning and school operations may entail.
Lastly, the Sacramento County Public Health Order to shelter in place has been updated and is available for review. Based on this new order, the District will announce any changes once they are finalized and until further notice, the status quo will stay in place. Again, all District schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 25th.
Please stay safe and stay healthy.
