November 5, 2021

Dear Elk Grove Unified Students, Parents and Families,

Today, we want to provide you with a few COVID-19 related updates and clarifications:

Will EGUSD provide the COVID-19 vaccine for children 5-11 years old?
The CDC has approved the emergency authorization of the Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 5 and 11. If you would like to have your child vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible, please check with your local health care provider or local pharmacy to see if they already have the appropriate vaccine.

The Nov. 13, Nov. 18, Dec. 4 and Dec. 9 clinics listed below will administer the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for anyone 5 years and older.
The Nov. 5, Nov. 9, Nov. 30 COVID-19 vaccine clinics listed below are for anyone 12 years and older. If this information changes, we will let you know.

Will the EGUSD COVID-Clinic Testing locations change hours with the time change?
Yes. Starting Monday, November 8th, the new hours for the EGUSD COVID-19 Testing locations will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will update our testing location information next week, which will also note holiday closures. Stay tuned for more information.

Does the Governor’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate for children go into effect immediately?
No, that is not the information we have. Our understanding of the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for all school age children is that it will not take place until full FDA approval is given. The anticipated timeline is for the summer of 2022 starting with children in grades 7-12.
