November 6, 2020
Dear Students, Families and Staff,
Thank you! The phone lines and emails glowed this past week as families either went online or called school and District staff to choose either Distance Learning or In-Person/Concurrent learning for their student(s). We have 64% or just over 41,000 of our students with a selection out of about 64,000 that are currently enrolled. Because of this success, Elk Grove Unified will extend the selection deadline by a week.
Extended Deadline: All families will have until Friday, November 13, 2020 to make or update their learning choice for their student in ParentVUE.
What happens after the deadline? At 5:00 p.m. on 11/13/20, the District will close the selection process. Students without a selection will default to the current Distance Learning model as their choice and will have to contact the school should they want to change to an In-Person/Concurrent learning model as arrangements for a schedule and seat assignment will need to be made.
For instructions for choosing or updating ParentVUE with the learning model you choose for your student(s), please review the letter sent to parents on 10/29/20 and for further information about the In-Person/Concurrent learning model, please review the letter sent on 10/30/20. You can also visit your school’s website or the District’s COVID-19 web page for additional details.
For information about School Health and Safety, please visit the District’s School Health and Safety page. Please note the Student Symptom Decision Tree protocols for families who choose the In-Person/Concurrent learning model because families will be contacted to pick-up their child from school if their child exhibits potential COVID-19 symptoms or exposure and students must be symptom free for 72 hours before returning to campus. Also, every student’s immunization record must be up-to-date before they can return to school in-person.
Again, thank you to everyone for your dedication to our students and ensuring their information is accurate and complete. We ask everyone to remain vigilant about wearing a face mask, maintaining social distance and handwashing. For those who can, remember to get a flu shot for you and your family.
Thank you and stay safe and stay healthy,
