Dear Elk Grove Unified Students, Parents and Families,

It’s Fall and again thanks to everyone’s effort to stay aware, informed and responsive to COVID-19, we see more opportunities to do more and expand our services for our community. Today’s EGUSD 7-day case rate is now down to 8.58, which bodes well. We anticipate more public health updates before November including the possibility of younger students being eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This is all positive news. Today’s update covers safety reminders, new questions we’ve received from our community and tips on where parents can find more information on webinars and opportunities for students.

SAFETY

October 1st is the last date for workers in our TK-12 school settings and facilities to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in order to comply with the state’s public health Order. Workers who are not fully vaccinated or prefer not to share their vaccination status will be required to take part in weekly COVID-19 testing. The District will be communicating its progress for vaccination /testing status verification to all employees, substitutes and contractors next week where we will provide additional information on how to prepare for the verification process as well as EGUSD provided testing protocols.

October 6th is Walk/Bike to School Day and with COVID-19, while mass gathering types of activities remain restricted, we still want to remind everyone that with school now open, traffic is back and with Fall here, it will be getting darker earlier with less visibility. We want everyone to stay safe when walking or biking to school and ask parents to review these safety reminders to avoid accidents and injuries.
