EGUSD Board of Education

Elk Grove Unified School District is governed by an elected seven member Board of Education. The board members represent seven geographic areas and are elected at large for four year terms.
The Board meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. The schedule can vary during the summer and holidays. Meetings are held at the Robert L. Trigg Education Center, 9510 Elk Grove-Florin Road. For more information, call 916.686.7700.

Jeanette Amavisca
President
Jeanette Amavisca has been a dedicated member to the Elk Grove Unified School District’s Board of Education since 1981. During her tenure on the board, 39 new schools have opened in the district. She has served in the capacity of Board president and clerk several times and has been a member of many board committees, including the Audit Committee, Architect Committee, Teen Pregnancy Prevention Advisory Committee, School Safety Task Force, and Recreation Summit.

Priscilla Cox
Clerk
Priscilla Cox has an extensive background in education and community service. She was elected to the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Education in November of 1994 and was selected as Board President in 1998 and 2004. Priscilla taught math and science at the secondary level for 10 years, first with the Long Beach Unified School District and later with the Folsom Cordova Unified School District in Sacramento County.

Pollyanna Cooper-LeVangie
Pollyanna Cooper-LeVangie was appointed to the Board of Education in 2001. She is a product of the Elk Grove district, having graduated from Elk Grove High School.

Pamela Irey
Elected to the board of education in 2000, Pamela A. Irey is a deputy sheriff with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and serves as the youth program coordinator for the department.

William Lugg, Jr.
Bill Lugg, elected to the Board of Education in 1983, has been involved with education for many years. His career includes serving as purchasing agent and fiscal services coordinator for the North Sacramento School District and serving as Business Manager for Center Unified School District.

Chet Madison, Sr.
Elected to the Board of Education in 2000, Chet Madison, Sr. has been involved with the Elk Grove Unified School District for many years as his children attended Charles Mack Elementary School, James Rutter Middle School, Joseph Kerr Middle School and graduated from Valley High School.

Alfred “Al” Rowlett
Alfred “Al” Rowlett was appointed a board member to represent Trustee Area 7 on Monday, August 17, 2009. Mr. Rowlett has long been an active supporter of the Elk Grove Unified School District, donating his time to serve in many capacities.
