Peer Resource Leaders Conflict Management Intervention

In our efforts to support students at Joseph Kerr, and at the same time, teach them strategies for solving conflicts in a positive way, the Counseling Department has created the Peer Resource Program.

This selected group of 16 students participated in a 3 week long, after school training course in listening, communicating, helping, and problem solving skills so they may better help their peers resolve conflicts that may interfere with the learning environment at school. The students have practiced their skills by participating in games, direct instruction lessons, and role-plays to better enhance their skills as conflict managers. Our program is officially up and running, and ready for you to use as a resource here at school to support our students.

Our Peer Resource Leaders are available during each period of the day. Request forms for the Peer Resource Program are located up in the front office. If you have any questions, please contact one of the counselors for further explanation.

The Peer Resource Leaders will also be involved in other important, upcoming school programs, such as:
Increase in Attendance program
Safe School Ambassadors
Peer Intervention Education
Conflict Leaders

Thank you for your support for this new and very important program for our students
