Mathematics Department

7th Grade Courses and Placement

Students are eligible to take numerous Mathematics Courses, based on a combination of five criteria:

(1) Teacher recommendation
(2) National Standardized Test scores (min. scores & EGUSD Algebra/Geom. Readiness required for advanced courses)
(3) First week Diagnostic Test score
(4) Previous course level and grade
(5) Demonstration of study habits and skills in previous and current course
(6) Math Diagnostic Testing Project Readiness Scores

 

Seventh grade students are currently enrolled in the following courses:

Math Lab (seventh grade course to assist students in completing Pre-Algebra I--admission requirements)
Pre-Algebra I (standard seventh grade California Standards course)
Pre-Algebra I Advanced (Advanced seventh grade California Standards course--admission requirements)
CP Algebra One (University of California A-G College Prep course--admission requirements)
CP Geometry (University of California A-G College Prep course--admission requirements)

A small number of seventh grade students are enrolled in more advanced courses offered at Elk Grove High School.
