Dear Elk Grove Families of Students with Disabilities,
This communication is in the nature of a prior written notice to provide you with information about the provision of emergency educational services for your child during the closure of schools due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
As you know, all of our schools are currently closed consistent with guidance from the state and local public health officials. We are now aware that school closures could possibly last for an extended amount of time. In light of this, our staff are working hard to develop quality educational opportunities for all students, including students with disabilities, through systems and programs that can deliver Distance Learning (i.e., where the student and teacher are in different locations). This is being done in accordance with current guidelines and advisories issued by public health officials and the California Department of Education.
As noted above, we expect that all EGUSD students will be served through some form of distance learning. We are in the process of developing specific means by which your child will be provided services and supports.
New guidelines and rules are issued every day, and we will continue to carefully consider and adjust accordingly. Given the evolving information and recommendations from state and federal officials, we anticipate that adjustments to our delivery of educational opportunities will be made in the coming days and weeks. We intend to stay in regular communications with you to help you stay informed.
These are obviously trying times for all of us. We value and appreciate your patience, and your partnership, in what is certainly unchartered territory. Through it all, your children still remain our priority.
Please expect to hear from us with additional information next week.
