Evan Favors had a dream come true and made history, all at once and all with the swoop of a pen.
The Monterey Trail High School defensive back signed a national football letter-of-intent to compete for Nevada. He is a versatile, explosive athlete who was paramount in helping the Mustangs reach the playoffs for the first time - and reach the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship game.
And he's the first full football scholarship player to emerge from one of the newest Elk Grove Unified School District schools.
"Great kid, great player," Monterey Trail coach T.J. Ewing said.
Favors had offers and interest from UC Davis, Cal Poly and San Jose State.
