Monterey Trail Names its' 2010 Athletes of the Year
May 21st ,2010

Nyesa Enakaya and Evan Favors were named Athletes of the Year at the annual Athletic Awards night here at Monterey Trail.

Nyesa Enakaya was a two-sport athlete her entire tenure at Monterey Trail. In the fall, Nyesa took to the volleyball court, earning a place on the varsity squad as a freshman. In her senior season, Nyesa led the volleyball team to its best record in Monterey Trail history and earned a place on the All Delta River League Team.

In the spring, Nyesa took to the track where she excelled in long and triple jump. Nyesa is the current Delta River League champion in both long and triple jump and was second in the CIF Sac-Joaquin section in triple jump. Next fall, Nyesa will be attending CSU Stanislaus on a track scholarship.

Evan Favaors was a three sport athlete for most of his career at Monterey Trail. In the fall he was an integral part of the Monterey Trail football teams' explosive defense.

In the winter, Evan took to basketball court providing the Mustangs with plenty of work ethic and athletic tenure up and down the court.

In the spring, Evan tore up the track and racked up quite a few accolades. Evan was the Delta River League champion in the 200m and 400M dash as well as anchored the 4x400 championship relay team. In addition, Evan was the CIF Sac-Joaquin section champion in the 400 and the 4x400 relay as well as a 5th place finish in the 4x100 and 7th place in the open 200M. Evan will be attending University Nevada at Reno this fall on a full football scholarship.
