Elk Grove High School to discuss underage drinking at September 19, 2008 Elk Grove High School’s Friday Night Live chapter will host a Town Hall meeting discuss the problem of underage drinking from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2008, in the Elk Grove High School cafeteria. Students and advisors from Friday Night Live and Club Live chapters from throughout the district, as well as elementary and middle school students and parents, concerned citizens and community members are invited to attend the town hall meeting to share ideas on how to combat and prevent underage drinking. “This meeting is a follow-up to a meeting held in the spring that tackled the same issue,” said Dan Newton, student activities director and Friday Night Live advisor at Elk Grove High School. “We would like to encourage anyone to come join us to explore possible solutions and ways we can support one another in dealing with this issue.” The California Friday Night Live program was developed in 1984 in Sacramento by the State Department of Alcohol and Drug Program and the California Office of Traffic Safety. The program is dedicated to reducing the number of deaths and injuries caused by teen motorists driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 1988, a spin-off of the program – Club Live – was created for middle/junior high school students due to the success of the Friday Night Live program.
