EGUSD high school dance companies to perform in Dance Fest 2009 October 9, 2009 On Saturday, October 17, the stage at Sheldon High School’s Performing Arts Center will come alive with the graceful motions of dance at Dance Fest 2009: Dancing in Color, presented by the Public Education Dance Alliance (PEDA). Dance Fest 2009: Dancing in Color is inspired by a diverse mix of colors – each piece in the show will seek to transform one color into a significant contemporary dance work for the theatrical stage. The following EGUSD high school dance companies will join dancers from the J. Rene Academy of Dance, Oakmont High School’s Dance FX and several guest performers at Dance Fest 2009:
PEDA is a non-profit organization that is comprised of parents, students, dance educators and community members. PEDA sponsors dance workshops for the dance community in a variety of cultural and traditional dance styles during the summer and throughout the academic year. The alliance raises money during these workshops and collaborates to produce an annual show – Dance Fest – to provide scholarships for local dance students and to benefit a local charity. This year, proceeds raised at Dance Fest 2009 will benefit the Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree, a local non-profit organization devoted to helping children in need. Tickets are $8 general admission and will only be sold at the door. The box office opens at 6:15 p.m.
