What's Happening - Calendar of Events – September 19-23

September 14, 2011

Here is what’s going on in the Elk Grove Unified School District during September 19-23:

September 21:   Joseph Kerr Middle School will hold a Parent Academic Support Workshop from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the multipurpose room. The workshop is offered to all parents that would like to increase and/or refine their support to their child’s education.  This workshop will address parent concerns; discuss the roles and responsibilities in educating children; look at academic behaviors; and provide suggestions and discussion for improved academic success.  Topics will also address communication – including “kid speak” and discipline – and what this really means.

September 21:  It’s Watch D.O.G.S. Pizza Night at Edward Harris, Jr. Middle School!  This event will be held in the multipurpose room from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.  WATCH D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a program that organizes fathers and father figures in order to provide positive male role models for the students and to enhance school security.

September 23:  The Franklin High School Theatre Company (FTC) will present their annual Broadway Musical Review and Dinner Show from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.  The fall dinner show will consist of songs from hit Broadway shows, with a cast of current FTC students. Dinner will be prepared by the Cosumnes Oaks High School Culinary Academy.  Served by theatre students, the dinner, beverages and snacks are included with the meal. Dinner music will be presented by a local jazz group. Tickets for the dinner and show are $15 for general admission and $12 for Franklin students with an ASB card.  Dinner starts at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.
