EGUSD launches attendance campaign for 2011/2012 school year
The Elk Grove Unified School District No Excuses – Go to School Attendance Campaign is already in full swing for the sixth straight year. This year’s campaign follows one of the most successful years for the campaign since its inception during the 2006-2007 school year. Attendance for the 2010/2011 school year jumped .38 percent, netting an additional $1.4 million in funding for the district.
The 2011/2012 Attendance Campaign brings new contests and new changes to existing contests. This year, middle school students and high school students in grades 9-11 have a chance to win a brand new laptop computer and printer through the Perfect Attendance Middle School and Perfect Attendance High School Laptop Giveaways. To qualify, students must have at least one month of perfect attendance. At the end of the school year, one student from each middle school and each high school will be randomly selected to attend the Grand Finale Event where one middle and one high school student will each walk away with a new laptop and printer.
The Elk Grove Auto Mall has once again donated $20,000 for the Elk Grove Auto Mall 2011/2012 Graduating Seniors Attendance Drive. One lucky graduating senior will still have the opportunity to win $20,000 to purchase a vehicle from any of the Elk Grove Auto Mall’s 20 brands, but the Attendance Drive also features new eligibility requirements for the Class of 2012, including:
The No Excuses – Go to School Poster Contest will once again give students in grades K-12 the chance to illustrate one of 12 different rhymes describing excuses students have made to avoid attending school. Winning illustrations will be turned into posters and used to help promote the Attendance Campaign at school sites throughout the district.
Monthly incentive prizes have also returned for this school year. Each month, students in grades K-12 have the chance to win prizes – just for having perfect attendance for that month. Each month brings a new prize opportunity for students. Past prizes have included gift packs from Chick-fil-A; bowling, lazer tag and arcade tokens from Country Club Lanes and free kids meal certificates from Mimi’s Café.
Elementary school students are ecstatic that the popular Perfect Attendance Bike Giveaway has returned. Sponsored in part by Methodist Hospital and Cosumnes Community Services District, one student from each of the district’s 39 elementary schools will win a new bicycle and helmet for having at least one month of perfect attendance. Students can earn entries in the contest for having perfect attendance each month. At the end of the school year, one student will be randomly selected from all entries at each school site to win the bicycle and helmet.
