Bobbie Singh-Allen was elected in November 2014 to serve as a board member representing Trustee Area 4 for a four year term. After having been appointed to fill a vacancy in August 2012, she ran unopposed during her election. Ms. Singh-Allen served as Board President from December 2014 through December 2016.
Ms. Singh-Allen has a vested interest in the success of the District as a parent, active school volunteer and community partner. Within the Elk Grove Unified School District community, she dedicates much of her time to improving the lives of students and families by leading anti-bullying initiatives and showing appreciation of multi-cultural awareness and diversity. Her role as a member of the Elk Grove Teen Center’s Board of Directors and member of the Elk Grove First’s Board of Directors shows her support for young people. Her work in the community also includes her position as a Board of Director for the Sacramento Area Women’s Chamber of Commerce and member of the Sacramento Regional Coalition for Tolerance.
As a former member of the Elk Grove Food Bank’s Board of Directors where she helped provide emergency food and services to the community she also ensured that children in the EGUSD also received clothing and uniforms through the Clothes Closet. Having been a member of the Laguna Sunrise Rotary, in 2011, following the tragic shootings of two elderly Sikh gentlemen in Elk Grove, she helped organize the first ever American Sikh Day at the State Capitol.
In 1993, she helped to create and launch “The Mayor’s Summer Reading Camp” in Sacramento under the direction of the Late Mayor Joe Serna, Jr. The program helped “at risk” students in the first and second grade in some of Sacramento’s most challenging neighborhoods.
Ms. Singh-Allen represents EGUSD through numerous committees and appointments including: Delegate Assembly for California School Boards Association, Representative to County Office of Education, Florin High School Business & Technology Advisory Committee, Linked Learning Leadership Team, the EGUSD/Cosumnes Community Services District Joint Meetings and more. In addition to being on the Board of Education, she serves as the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for The California Lodging Industry Association and as the Board of Education President. Her prior work includes serving as the Vice President of Governmental Relations for the California Hotel & Lodging Association, as a Public Affairs Consultant for L&B Associates, as the Director of Governmental Relations for the Nehemiah Corporation of America and as a California Legislative Advocate for Population Connection, Inc.
Having immigrated to the United States from India at the age of four, Ms. Singh-Allen embraced her new country by becoming an active member of the community and a leader in education. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the California State University, Sacramento and a Juris Doctor from Lincoln Law School. She is married to her best friend, Jake Allen and has children enrolled at Cosumnes Oaks High School and Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School.
