EGUSD Announces Two Programs to Deter Drugs on School Campus

Within the next 2-3 weeks, officers from the Elk Grove Police Department will begin doing some targeted enforcement with youth riding bicycles without wearing helmets.

As a large number of youth leave school each from our campuses on bicycles and vehicle traffic is heavy, the likelihood of a possible vehicle vs. bicycle accident is increased probably 20 fold if not more.

The Elk Grove Police Department will issue citations to youth not in possession of helmet and found riding their bicycle. Those in possession but not wearing helmets will have their parents called first.

This targeted enforcement will take place in and around our schools. This intervention is truly a last resort in attempting to protect children from the tragic consequences of a serious head injury.
