What is the American Indian Education Program?
The Indian Education program
provides special educational services to American
Indian and Alaska Native children. These services

during regular day and after school, and outreach
to parents of students who have not met grade
level requirements or who are at risk.
Who Participates?
American Indian and Alaska Native
students, K-12, may participate in this program.
Families and students become eligible for services
through completing and submitting an eligibility
form for each child. Please call the Indian Program
Educator at 686-7712 for this eligibility form
or for more information. Return the completed
form to the Office of Learning Support Services,
9510 Elk Grove-Florin Road, Elk Grove 95624.

When Are Program Services
Held?
Tutoring services are available
throughout the school year. It is preferable for
the services to be scheduled at the school site
for ongoing contact between the tutor and the
students teacher. Culture classes are scheduled
throughout the year, including a special summer
program. Contact the Indian Program Educator for
the schedule.
Why Do Students Participate?
Students participate in the Indian
Education program for a variety of reasons: for
assistance with school work, particularly reading
and math; for culturally related enrichment; for
support and encouragement in the achievement of
challenging standards; for assistance in working
toward entering institutions of higher education.
