The No Excuses – Go to School attendance campaign has new marketing tools thanks to some clever script-writers and Sheldon High School’s K9 Studios.
Middle and high school students wrote, directed and acted in two videos aimed at raising student awareness about the importance of attending school on a regular basis.

The No Excuses – Go to School attendance campaign is now in its second year. The program is an outreach approach to students, parents and community members through school newsletter articles, press releases, letters home, posters, calendars and flyers. Student support is sought through monthly incentives donated by local businesses and community members. Other promotion materials for students include PA announcements, creative contests and school wide recognitions.
Every month at each of the district’s 60 schools a list is compiled of students with perfect attendance. From that list one student’s name is drawn to receive an incentive. In addition, each month all the students’ names go into a raffle for the grand prize drawing at the end of the year. It is a reinforcement program that reminds students and parents that each month strong school attendance brings academic and personal rewards.
Senior high school students have a special program available to them thanks to the generosity of the member dealers of the Elk Grove Auto Mall. One lucky senior with perfect attendance in all classes for at least one calendar month has the opportunity to receive $20,000 towards the purchase of a vehicle from the auto mall.
The No Excuses – Go to School attendance campaign is only possible through the support of community members and businesses. If you would like to donate to the campaign, please contact Torrey Johnson, Senior Communications Specialist, at (916) 686-7732 or tjohnsaa@egusd.net.
